Performing Under Pressure

If there was one characteristic that defined the workplace in the Industrial Age it was probably boredom.   If there is one characteristic of the Information Age it is probably stress.

Whether it is difficult working relationships, constant change or an unrelenting workload, stress seems to be a constant of modern workplaces.  However, what is less predictable is how we respond to stress.

For some, stress seems to help them not just survive but thrive.  But for others, stress can feel chronic, and can start to take its toll, leading to diminished wellbeing and effectiveness.

What explains this difference?  What can we learn from psychology about ways of handling stress more effectively?

This Course

This course is designed to build individual resilience – otherwise known as the ability to perform more effectively under pressure, bounce back from setbacks and cope with stress effectively.

Recent research shows that resilience begins with an ability to notice how we are responding to stress and to understand where our thinking is helping us and where it is prolonging stress unnecessarily, or getting in the way of effective performance.

The course is all about learning evidence-based tools to help strengthen our natural resilience.

During the workshop you will:

  • Consider situations where being more resilient would be valuable.
  • Identify thinking traps which get in the way of performance and prolong stress unnecessarily
  • Practise evidence-based tools to take back control over one’s behaviour
  • Create your own strategy for building resilience
